Not safe for work... not because of racy language, but because laughing like a hyena in a cube farm is a good way to get "downsized".
Enjoy...

Note the gratuitous (and hillarious) use of the Wilhelm scream in this video. If you don't know what that is, CLICK HERE TO LISTEN.

Compubeaver!
I just discovered a wonderful web site called Instructables.com - it's basically a huge clearing-house for step-by-step DIY tutorials on everything from fixing a broken Xbox 360 to making concrete light bulbs (not sure why you'd want to, but they're so cool) all the way up to building a garage from the ground up or making cool book shelves.
This, my friends, is why the interwebs were... um, woven?
But wait... there's more!
Digging deeper, I found evem more amazing stuff. My favorites so far?
Check out this amazing Aliens Power Loader Halloween Costume (my inner geek was all a-swoon).
And, easily the coolest and most disturbing things on the site: the Amazing Compubeaver (subtitled: "How To Case-Mod A beaver In 29 Easy Steps!". Yes, it's as bizarre as it sounds and yes, I must own one. WILL own one.
WARNING: This site is an amazing resource as well as an amazing time sink - you have been warned.
Enjoy!!

In my research...
.
I'm working on a new book, a novel set in modern times about games, game theory, the desire to create autobiography and biography, and, in the end, the sometimes destructive compulsion to create. Some people in my close circle of friends and family know about it, but I'm not ready to say much more about it right now. I have the feeling that it may be one of those books that gets written over the course of several years, and I don't want to kill it with too much talk.
Suffice to say that in doing some light research, I came across this fascinating (and by "fascinating", I mean "completely terrifying") article in UK's The Independent. It's an interview with David Irving, a man who believes (or so he claims) that Adolf Hitler prophesied that he would one day be his biographer, a noble task that he has embraced. What follows is a fascinating view of a skewed and very possibly delusional mind. Or he might just be a charlatan. Personally, I think that "misunderestmates" (to borrow from our President's last press confrerence) the depth of this guys wackiness, but...
As I told a friend recently: it's things like this that keep me up nights now.

...with extra bile.
.
THIS SITE, which purports to give "Socially conscious reasons to punch someone in the face", just made it onto my Favorites link on the right.
Is it me, or do I work with like half this list (or see them in the gym, the grocery store or at the mall on weekends)? Be sure to scroll back a ways - the posts seem to get more and more vitriolic the further back in time you go (vitriol = GOOD), sort of like they're reaching for people to mock. Maybe they're just getting tired - being witty all the time is exhausting, God knows... (shrug).
Either way - enjoy!

Dark bananas...
.
Man... who would have thought that the humble banana has such a colorful history... and such a dark fate?
This is why writers and storytellers need to read everything they can, watch as many documentaries as they can and talk to as many people as they can - I literally couldn't have made something as interesting as this tale of the humble banana up. The truth, as they say, is stranger than fiction.
Have a great weekend everyone!
